Rakesh Naik Appointed New CEO of AGL

Rakesh Naik has been appointed as the new CEO of Adjaristsqali Georgia LLC (AGL). Prior to coming to AGL, he had a long and successful career with Tata Power, one of the world’s largest energy companies. He initially joined AGL as the COO and assumed his new role as CEO in the autumn of 2020.

On joining AGL, Rakesh has ensured successful and trouble-free commissioning of Shuakhevi HPP. He has set up Operational, Maintenance, Safety, Environment & Social processes in the operational phase of the Power plant. He is also keen on improving social and community relations.

“It is an honor for me to manage this crucially important energy project and work with such a talented team of Georgian engineers. The energy that the Shuakhevi Hydropower Plant produces will significantly support Georgia’s path toward energy independence for many years to come. As we begin the operation phase of our project, we will continue to lead the energy sector in social responsibility by supporting a variety of social projects in highland Adjara,” stated Mr. Naik.

The Shuakhevi HPP plays a vitally important role in Georgia’s energy security. It began operation in the spring of 2020.
