AGL commenced commissioning/operations safety meetings with communities residing within the project impact area. The first meeting was conducted with the employees of the Shuakhevi Municipality City Hall. AGL representatives provided information about the safety measures nearby the dams, reservoirs, and power plants, explained banning and warning safety signage which will be placed downstream of the dam near the riverbed. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session where AGL representatives provided detailed responses to the queries raised by the attendees.

After the meeting with Mayor employees, an informational briefing was held with the residents of Khichauri village in Shuakhevi. AGL will carry out further community meetings and cover all villages within the impact area.

Shuakhevi hydropower plant will start generating electricity in 2020. At the end of this year operation begins at the 9MW Skhalta power plant, and the next year – the Shuakhevi power plant will be fully operational.
