Company statement about ongoing tunnel inspection

AGL continues with an inspection of the entire tunnel system on the Shuakhevi HPP. The AGL technical team, together with its international consultants and experts, are inspecting the entire system. At the same time, dewatering of the tunnel is continuing to allow inspections in all sections of the tunnels.  Works and personnel can be seen at the tunnel adits, and this is in relation to inspection and dewatering.  The process of dewatering is expected to take several weeks to empty the tunnel fully.

As for the Skhalta-Didachara tunnel, after the inspection phase is concluded, analysis and testing will commence to better understand the reasons why issues occurred in the tunnel. The team is confident that they will resolve the issue. The tunnel is located deep inside the mountain, and no risk to the villagers or houses has been identified.  The safety of the surrounding public is of upmost importance to AGL.

Construction activities on the Skhalta power plant and 35kV Skhata transmission line have not yet been completed. These works are expected to be completed by year-end.
