    Biodiversity Action Plan Workshop

    On September the 14th, AGL and the Project Consultants, Mott McDonald, held a workshop at the ERA Hotel in Batumi, Georgia to initiate an open debate on the current Adjaristsqali Biodiversity Action Plan.

    The aim of the workshop was to consult with the local stakeholders and to identify the Biodiversity conservation priorities and actions regarding the Adjaristsqali Project. The specific objectives were to:

    • Update local stakeholders on the Adjaristsqali Project
    • Inform local stakeholders on the Adjaristsqali BAP project
    • Understand the needs and expectations of the local stakeholders
    • Understand and agree the boundaries for the Adjaristsqali BAP
    • Identify priorities and actions for biodiversity conservation in the study area
    • Interact with Georgian environmental specialists

    Representatives of local governmental and non-governmental organisations attended the workshop. They expressed their eagerness to participate in further surveys and share their experiences conducted within the scope of the Adjaristsqali ESIA studies.

    The management team can confirm that a Habitat and Species survey is currently underway by local specialists at various sections of the site to ensure minimum harm and impacts to the environment as a result of project related works.
