This semester, AGL is continuing the second phase of its English education project. AGL is providing teacher training to English teachers and after school English clubs for students in the Shuakhevi and Khulo municipalities which are affected by the construction of the Shuakhevi HPP. We are also conducting an English spelling competition for students in upper Adjara.

This project is a continuation of a pilot project which we conducted in the spring. The pilot also included teacher trainings and after school activities such as debates and youth parliaments. We also held an essay contest that gave students an opportunity to discuss their vision for the future of their region and country.

So far, roughly, 80 students have participated in our trainings and after-school activities, and nearly 1,200 students have participated or are currently participating in our academic contests.
