GIPA Students Visit the Shuakhevi HPP Cascade
On May 28–29, second-year students from the Renewable Energy Management Program at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) visited the Shuakhevi HPP Cascade as part of an educational site visit.
The study visit was organized within the framework of a Memorandum of Cooperation signed between GIPA and Adjaristsqali Georgia LLC (AGL), the owner of Shuakhevi HPP Cascade. The partnership aims to connect students’ theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Under the agreement, students enrolled in the program will have the opportunity each year to undergo practical training at one of Georgia’s most important energy facilities, which plays a significant role in the country’s energy security.
During the visit, students met with the company’s Chief Executive Officer, as well as the heads of various functions and departments. They received comprehensive information about the design, construction, and operation of hydropower facilities, learned about modern technologies and engineering practices, and had the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with industry professionals.
Participants also toured the Shuakhevi Hydropower Plant, Skhalta HPP, and the Didachara Dam, where they gained first-hand insight into the complete operational cycle of hydropower generation.
“GIPA is one of the leading universities in Georgia, and we highly value our cooperation with this successful educational institution. We believe that the sustainable development of the energy sector is possible only with qualified professionals. That is why we are creating opportunities for students to gain first-hand exposure to modern energy infrastructure, meet industry experts, and acquire practical knowledge in a real working environment. Initiatives like this play an important role in developing future professionals and strengthening Georgia’s energy sector,” said Satish Bhat, CEO of Adjaristsqali Georgia.
